What a Cookie Is

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. On your next visit the browser sends it back, which lets the site recognise the same browser. Cookies cannot run programs, cannot read other files on your computer, and cannot carry a virus. What they can do is remember things: a preference you set, a session you started, or the fact that you have already seen a particular advert.

Alongside cookies, sites use a few related technologies that work the same way in practice. Local storage keeps data in the browser without sending it back automatically. A tracking pixel is a tiny invisible image whose only purpose is to record that a page was loaded. Where this policy says “cookies”, it covers these as well.

A cookie set by the site you are visiting is a first-party cookie. One set by another company whose code runs on the page, such as an advertising network, is a third-party cookie. That distinction matters, because third-party cookies are the ones that can follow you across different websites.

Strictly necessary

These make the site work and cannot be switched off from within the site. They keep your session consistent as you move between pages, remember your cookie choices so you are not asked repeatedly, and support basic security checks against automated abuse. If you are logged in as a site administrator, a WordPress session cookie keeps you logged in. None of these track you across other websites.

Functional

These remember choices you have made so the site behaves the way you left it: a display setting, a preference on the game frame, or details entered in a comment form so you do not have to type them again. Refusing them does not break anything; the site simply forgets those preferences between visits.

Performance and caching

This site uses caching to serve pages faster. Caching may set a cookie identifying which version of a page your browser should receive, for instance a mobile layout rather than a desktop one. These contain no personal information and are not used to build a profile.

Advertising

This site is free to use and is intended to be funded by advertising. Where adverts are shown, the advertising network supplying them may set cookies of its own. These are used to limit how often you see the same advert, to measure whether an advert was clicked, to detect fraudulent clicks, and, if you allow it, to select adverts based on your browsing across other sites.

Games hosted on this site

Games are embedded from the companies that distribute them. When you load a game, that company’s own page loads inside the frame and may set its own cookies — typically to remember your progress, a sound setting, or a score. Those cookies are governed by that company’s policies rather than ours, and we have no control over them. If you would rather not accept them, do not load the game.

One practical note that belongs here: many browser games load an advertising library before they start. What We Do Not Do

We do not sell the contents of cookies. We do not use cookies to work out your real name, address or telephone number. We do not require an account to read or play anything here, and we do not operate a login system for visitors.

Where a consent banner is shown, you can accept or refuse non-essential cookies from it, and change your answer later. Refusing advertising cookies does not remove adverts; it means the ones you see are chosen without reference to your browsing history.

Your browser gives you broader control. Every major browser lets you view and delete stored cookies, block third-party cookies entirely, block all cookies for a specific site, or clear everything when you close the window. The setting is usually under Privacy or Site Settings. Blocking all cookies for this site will not stop you reading it, though preferences will be forgotten each time you return.

Browsers also offer private or incognito windows, which discard cookies when the window closes. That is a straightforward way to visit without leaving anything behind.

We will update this page when what the site uses changes, and we will change the date at the top when we do. If a change materially affects how your data is handled, we will make that clear rather than editing quietly.
